How to hang a dartboard correctly (pro standard)

Setting up a steel tip dartboard is relatively straightforward. Here's a step-by-step guide: When you are set up, you can view my complete Darts 501 or Darts Cricket guide here. For now, here is how to hang a dartboard correctly, pro standard

1. Select a Location: Choose a suitable location for your dartboard. Ensure there is enough space around the board for players to stand and throw without obstruction. The standard height for mounting the bullseye (center of the dartboard) is 5 feet 8 inches (173 cm) from the floor to the center of the bullseye.

2. Mounting the Dartboard: Use a sturdy, stable surface to mount the dartboard. The board should be securely fixed to the wall to prevent movement during play. You'll want to use a mounting bracket or screws to affix the dartboard to the wall. Make sure it's level.

3. Measurements: Measure the throwing distance from the front of the dartboard to the throwing line (known as the oche). For steel tip darts, the standard throwing distance is 7 feet 9.25 inches (2.37 meters) from the face of the board to the oche.

4. Marking the Oche: Mark the throwing line on the floor using tape or a marker. This line should be straight and parallel to the face of the dartboard. It's typically a line 18 inches (45.7 cm) in length, extending from the face of the dartboard.

5. Lighting: Ensure adequate lighting around the dartboard area. Proper lighting is essential for visibility and accuracy while playing.

6. Dartboard Setup: Once mounted, you can set up the dartboard by inserting the steel-tip darts into the board. Make sure they are securely in place and not wobbling.

7. Dartboard Rotation: To extend the life of your dartboard and ensure even wear, it's a good idea to rotate the dartboard regularly. This means turning the board regularly so that different areas of the board receive equal use.

8. Safety: Remind players to be cautious and mindful of their surroundings while playing darts. Make sure the area around the dartboard is clear of people and obstacles to prevent accidents.

By following these steps, you can set up a steel tip dartboard for hours of enjoyable play. Remember to always play safely and responsibly.
